Greenhouse Cake Smash | Kyle turns 1 | Grand Rapids, MI

I photographed little Kyle as a brand new 7 day old baby girl, it’s hard to believe it’s already been a whole year. We planned her 1 year photo shoot hoping Michigan would give us blossoms or a least a warm April day, and per usual Michigan failed us…miserably. A big and sincere thank you to Countryside Greenhouse, they were so kind and generous to let us use their amazing greenhouse for our shoot and it provided the most amazing backdrop of the blossoms we had in mind. Kyle is a funny little girl with so many expressions and of course on photo day she skipped her nap. I think it’s usually the story I hear, photo shoot day is always the day those little ones find their inner stinker and spunk. Even though she skipped her nap she was still sweet, silly, and pretty precious, but by the time we got to the cake smash, she was just over it all, but when it’s your party you can cry if you want to! And as a mom of 2 that often find their inner stinker every time I bring out the camera, I think the tears are pretty cute and a great memory to laugh at some day down the road.

And can we just all agree that this little girl is probably the best dressed 1 year old you’ve every met?!

In Studio Cake Smash | Zane Turns 1

Zane is already 1! I can’t believe it, I’ve truly bonded with these little ones because I photographed Mia’s newborn photos 4 years ago and continued hanging out with these little cuties for every milestone since. I’ve loved looking back on all the memories, here’s a few favs from Zane’s first year of life.

Wallace - 3 month In Home Session

Wallace - 3 month In Home Session

It's not often I have the opportunity to photograph a baby at 3 months.  It's not that they aren't cute at 3 months, it's just that parents usually want to capture one of those milestone moments like sitting up, crawling, walking, etc.   After looking through these photographs, I'm so glad Carlie and Steven chose to do a session at 3 months.  It's so amazing how much they change in such a short amount of time.  My son was born last May and I'm realizing that his 1 year birthday will be here sooner then later, and then the baby days are over.   I'm kicking myself for not getting out the "real camera" more often to photograph these amazing moments (being a photographer does not mean I am constantly taking amazing photo of my own children, though to be honest I should...it was my New Years resolution...)  My guess is that Wallace has already changed so much since I was there photographing him for this session.  Since Carlie and Steven live on the other side of the state it made much more sense for me to come to their home, feeding/napping schedules of a little one pretty much dictate your schedule at this point.  If traveling for your baby session seems like way to much work, consider doing the session in your home.  It really gives your images an intimate, cozy feel and plus you can include your fur babies, because after all they are family too!
