He’s off on deployment across country, she’s holding down the fort here at home in West Michigan. It’s a tough sacrifice for so many of those in military service. I take for granted that I get wake up next to my true love everyday. But for these two that old saying, distance makes the heart grow fonder, is so true. They had this incredible, real, and magical connection, I just showed up and clicked the shutter. When you have so little time of being in each others arms, you really do cherish the moments you spend together.
Locations: In my studio, Provins Trail
When it's 10 degrees outside you skip being outside in the bitter cold and enjoy the beauty of a nice warm studio. I honestly don't have the chance to shoot in the studio as much as you'd think, so when they told me they fell in love with my studio and had that vision for their engagement session I was pumped. Every couple has such a special and unique love story, I really enjoyed meeting Julie and Sam, laughing together, and just hearing more about their love story. These two are proof that meeting on Tinder can lead you to your soul mate ;)
I take for granted just how many amazing pieces of art we have around Grand Rapids, mostly because of Art Prize, and there's something new and unique every year. It is truly something special here in my city, and it was finally time to incorporate one of my favorite murals into a photo session (I've had my eye on it for a while) Amanda and Bryan were definitely over due for a night out together away from their two little ones, luckily their engagement session here inGrand Rapids was a great excuse for a date night. We started in my lovely downtown studio with some wine, and then headed out downtown for sunset. Who knew that February would feel like spring, Michigan weather is so so crazy but in this case I had no complaint. Thanks for spending your date night with me, it's was a blast hanging out with you two! Looking forward to that special wedding day.
